In the healthcare industry, informed consent has been a hot topic for decades. When is consent required? Who can obtain it? When should it be obtained? What needs to be addressed in the discussion? What elements should be in a critical access hospital’s informed consent policy? Who is legally allowed to sign the consent form?
Subsequent to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) changes announced in the Federal Register on June 5, 2023, Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) has retired Standard 18.03.04 Employee health: COVID-19 Vaccination of Hospital Staff. Effective June 5, 2023, critical access hospitals will not be surveyed against this requirement.
ACHC announced this change in an email sent July 11, 2023. To access the updated Accreditation Requirements for Critical Access Hospitals, 2023 Edition, contact your dedicated Account Advisor.
